Black Med feat Sono Mayrit

Black Med is a project by Invernomuto initiated in 2018, based on an archive in progress of music and sound objects from the wider area of the Mediterranean. Its main output is accessible online at blackmed.invernomuto.info

In each episode, they host a guest invited to contribute to the archive with a selection of tracks or a mix, followed by a recording of the output of the Black Med algorithm.

Sono Mayrit, along with collaborator Disco Atlas, contributed to the research phase of the 9th chapter of the Black Med listening session series, which Invernomuto will premiere on November 9th 2024 in Malaga as part of the Art Explora Festival.

For this episode, several pieces were chosen from the archive, focusing on the Arab, Jewish and Romani roots of flamenco, as well as long classical pieces of cante hondo.
